What are the benefits of fitting alloy wheels?
Alloy wheels are designed to be lighter, more visually appealing, and more effective at dissipating brake heat compared to traditional steel wheels. We offer them in standard sizes and a variety of fitments to suit different vehicles.
Upgrading to alloy wheels often results in reduced unsprung weight, this reduction in rotating mass at the ends of your suspension components enhances steering responsiveness and improves braking performance, giving you a more dynamic driving experience.
What does PCD mean?
PCD (Pitch Circle Diameter) refers to the diameter of an imaginary circle drawn through the centre of your wheel's bolt holes. It is measured in millimetres and also specifies the number of studs or bolts on the wheel.
For example, many European cars use a 4×108 PCD (meaning 4 bolt holes positioned around a 108mm circle).
What does offset mean?
Offset refers to the measurement between the hub mounting surface and the centerline of the wheel. This measurement, typically engraved or stamped on the wheel, is expressed in millimeters as 'ET' (which comes from the German term "Einpresstiefe," meaning "insertion depth").
What does centre bore mean?
The centre bore of an alloy wheel refers to the diameter of the opening on the back of the wheel that fits over the vehicle’s hub. For a secure and proper fit, this hole must precisely match the size of the hub.
Most modern wheels are hub-centric, meaning the hub that extends from the vehicle carries the weight, aligning with the corresponding hole in the wheel. In this design, the studs or bolts mainly serve to keep the wheel attached to the hub.
For lug-centric wheels, the condition of the studs or bolts is more crucial. It’s recommended to partially tighten the bolts (about 3/4) before mounting the wheel to ensure it is properly centred.
